The Post 2020 Biodiversity Framework-EU support project empowers decision-makers and stakeholders worldwide to implement the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), The Biodiversity Plan, for the wellbeing of present and future generations.
It is funded by the European Union and implemented by Expertise France.

Building momentum to ensure the prompt implementation of a transformative GBF, The Biodiversity Plan, across the globe.

Working jointly with governments, the private sector and civil society to support transformative solutions and positive innovations to reverse biodiversity loss and to safeguard human and ecosystems’ health.

our focus

Integrating biodiversity considerations into policies, practices and economic activities that affect or depend on nature and its services requires an integrative and holistic approach.

The mobilization, inclusion and commitment of the largest possible range of stakeholders can enable effective change in national policy by mainstreaming biodiversity in practice and showing how policy can support these contributions.

Mainstreaming biodiversity across food systems is a genuinely cross-cutting subject. It goes beyond applying safeguarding mechanisms to tackle biodiversity loss or keeping endangered species out of harm’s way.

Cities, subnational and local governments (SNLGs) have the capacity and willingness to be cornerstones of biodiversity mainstreaming, with direct authority on spatial management at the heart of the economy, and as key intermediaries between different levels of governance.

Ecosystem restoration can address environmental and socioeconomic aspects simultaneously, but only if it integrates local ecosystem’s needs and features in restoration plans, providing information to support decision-makers for its effective implementation.

Spatial planning generally consists in projecting long-term goals on geographical areas, thus inherently addressing all aspects of development (environmental, economic and social).

To be nature-positive by 2030, we must urgently engage the whole of society in transformative actions, and address direct and indirect drivers of biodiversity loss and ecosystems degradation.

whole of society mobilization

Our project is partnering with more than 60 stakeholders across the world, all engaged in implementing the GBF, The Biodiversity Plan.

By working with government representatives in key countries, our project supports them in identifying and implementing transformative actions for biodiversity.

Our project aims at scaling up investments in biodiversity by showcasing initiatives aimed at redirecting public and private funds to nature-positive activities.

By promoting best practices, outreach and awareness raising, our project encourages the mainstreaming of biodiversity into business strategies and practices.

Our project contributes to the mobilization of local, subnational and regional governments, as key actors for an effective implementation of the GBF on the ground.

Jointly with research Institutions and academia, our project disseminates positive solutions for impactful biodiversity policies and powerful monitoring systems.

Our project partners with international organizations to promote nature-positive policies worldwide.

Together with NGO’s, Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities, Women and Youth, our project facilitates inclusive governance of the GBF.
