African Group of Negotiators – EU Dialogue

African Group of Negotiators – EU Dialogue
Clearing a path to fruitful negotiations on the updated post-2020 global biodiversity framework.
The workshop followed the release of draft 1 of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework and contribute to the preparation of the third session of the Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG3). The activity aimed at facilitating discussions between the EU and its Member States, and the African Group of Negotiators as part of the informal preparatory process leading to the adoption of the Post 2020 Biodiversity Framework.

The event focused on an informal exchange of views on draft 1 of post-2020 global biodiversity framework released by the Co-Chairs of the OEWG3 and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity on July 12th, and on selected 2030 and 2050 goals, milestones, action targets, enabling conditions and other mechanisms (including review of implementation, responsibility and transparency).

This activity followed the successful first EU-African Group Dialogue and aims at further fostering common ground between negotiators ahead of the upcoming CBD meetings and in light of the repercussions of the Covid-19 crisis.
