THE NINTH TRONDHEIM CONFERENCE ON BIODIVERSITY: PATHWAYS FOR TRANSFORMATIONAL CHANGES
On July 2nd was held the 9th Trondheim conference in Norway. The 2019 Conference addressed the challenges of achieving the 2050 Vision for Biodiversity, explore pathways for the transformational changes needed, and contribute to the development of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.

Mobilization

The 9th Trondheim conference acted as a global consultation workshop focusing on evidence from the natural, economic and social sciences and traditional knowledge systems that could feed into the post-2020 global biodiversity framework. The Conference brought together over 450 participants.

The main outcomes of the 9th Trondheim conference include:

  • A broad common understanding of all issues relevant for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework among participants.
  • Good discussions on key issues.
  • Strengthened relationships with key players.

 

The conference was hosted by the Norwegian Government in close cooperation with the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Environment Programme and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The Conference was organized by the Norwegian Environment Agency.
