DISCOVERING BIODIVERSITY INITIATIVES IN LILLE
The city of Lille (France) welcomed National Focal Points of CBD as part of a “Nature en Ville” study visit. The delegates were able to apprehend local biodiversity policy initiatives such as urban farms, shared garden or a climate change-adapted district. Walking around the city, National Focal Points discovered various innovations to support sustainable development solutions in the cities.

On October 9th 2019, Post 2020 Biodiversity Framework – EU Support organized a study visit in Lille for Biodiversity delegates. This study visit highlighted the potentialities and synergies of biodiversity and urban/industrial environment that can actually cohabit.

They went to the Saint-Sauveur Station urban farm, before visiting the Plants Garden equipped with conservation and education tools: beehives, botanical spaces, greenhouses…

They discovered hybrid models of shared gardens and schools and local green projects such as the “street garden”.
