| Mexico’s multilevel dialogue on the Post 2020 Biodiversity Framework On June 24, our project organized with ICLEI Cities Biodiversity Center (CBC) and ICLEI Mexican, Central American and Caribbean Office (MECS) a multilevel dialogue on the post 2020 biodiversity framework in Mexico. This dialogue gathered over 50 participants including Mexican states and cities. The Scottish Government took the floor and called upon more Mexican local and subnational governments to sign the Edinburgh Declaration for subnational governments, cities and local authorities on the post 2020 global biodiversity framework, which calls for a dedicated and a more ambitious decision and a renewed plan of action for local and subnational governments to be adopted at CBD COP15. | Colombia’s multilevel dialogue on the Post 2020 Biodiversity Framework Ahead of the Open-Ended Working Group 3 (OEWG3) the hosting country Colombia led a multilevel dialogue on the post 2020 biodiversity framework on 25 June 2021. The event gathered 50 participants (government officials, civil society) aimed at strengthening the key points of the National Development Plan for biodiversity. They discussed challenges and opportunities in the collaborative action engaged across the different levels of governments to develop and strengthen the national position and common narrative on the framework. | The EU-South Africa Dialogue Facility On June 24, the Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF) of South Africa in partnership with the ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, with support from the SA-EU Strategic Partnership launched a project titled “Catalyzing Local Government Action for the Post 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF)”. Intergenerational Dialogue on Meaningful Youth & Civil Society Participation in the CBD during the age of COVID: Digital Inequality vs. Virtual Negotiations During the event, gathering close to 100 representatives of worldwide youth and CBD senior staff, GYBN provided a space for an open dialogue between representatives of civil society, women and youth as well as representatives of governments, different bodies and working groups of the CBD.This event allowed for a vibrant exchange of views and experiences with regards to digital inequality and virtual negotiations. The Post-2020 Partnership’s Race is On The Pavilion will be one of the few large pavilions at IUCN World Conservation Congress in Marseille (September) that is focused entirely on the GBF negotiations. The aim is to create a programme that can respond rapidly to OEWG-3 outcomes. With its 6-day programme, its main focus will be prioritizing the convergence of partners in driving high ambition at CBD COP15 through the generation of coordination advocacy output towards an equitable, nature-positive, climate-neutral future for all.
