 | An inspiring programme at the Post-2020 Partnership Pavilion
The Pavilion will be one of the few large pavilions at IUCN World Conservation Congress in Marseille (September) that is focused entirely on the GBF negotiations. The aim is to create a programme that can respond rapidly to OEWG-3 outcomes. With its 6-day programme, its main focus will be prioritizing the convergence of partners in driving high ambition at CBD COP15 through the generation of coordination advocacy output towards an equitable, nature-positive, carbon-neutral future for all.

Thematic session on transformative change in the post-2020 global biodiversity framework
The session held on 5 September (4 to 5 pm CEST) will present the main interest, challenges and opportunities related to adopting a “transformative change” approach to the post-2020 global biodiversity framework and showcase with concrete examples the EU’s role and leadership in driving transformation throughout sectors, stakeholders and in the COP15 negotiation process.

On the opening day of the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Marseille, France, IUCN will for the first time in its history, organise a summit dedicated to cities and regions: the IUCN Local Action Summit. Running from 12 to 4 pm CEST on 3 September, the Summit will take place as a ‘hybrid event’ allowing for both in-person and virtual participation.

Tasked with drafting the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework, an Open-Ended Working Group of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) will convene online for its third meeting (WG2020-3) from Monday 23 August to Friday 3 September 2021.
In the margins of WG2020-3, the host, the Government of Colombia, will also convene a High-Level event on Monday 30 August.

 | UN International Youth Day Held on 12 of August, the theme of International Youth Day 2021 was, “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health”, with the aim of highlighting that the success of such a global effort will not be achieved without the meaningful participation of young people. This year’s International Youth Day provided a platform for young people to continue the momentum in the lead up to the high-level Food Systems Summit. This year, International Youth Day was virtually convened by DESA in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Major Group for Children and Youth.
