The #BiodiversityNeedsYouTH ! Youth campaign was proudly showcased at the Paris Peace Forum 2019 edition
Post-2020 Biodiversity Framework . EU Support and the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) brought youth voices for the Planet during the 3 days of the Paris Peace Forum, the international congress showcasing innovative solutions for peace, development and the environment.

Young people are a driving force of transformative change and are calling for strong commitments for a viable Earth.

The Paris Peace Forum, held at the Grande Halle de La Villette (Paris), gathered over 100 projects in various thematic areas (Culture & Education, Technologies, Development, Security, Environment). The #BiodiversityNeedsYouTH campaign was proud to be present at a booth in the Forum’s “Environment” section.

Post-2020 Biodiversity Framework . EU Support project members and GYBN representatives further presented young people’s ambitions for the Planet to the Forum’s participants and guests.

Among them, Mrs Hilde Hardeman, Head of the European Commission’s service for Foreign Policy Instruments and her team, Mr Rémy Riou, CEO of AFD, Mr Yann Wehrling, French Ambassador for the Environment or Mr Jérémy Pellet, CEO of Expertise France, all spent some time on the booth and were keen to discuss with young leaders. They all gave an enthusiastic feedback and their full support to the campaign.

The event was highly successful and useful to the campaign since it tremendously improved its visibility and garnered international interest and support from a wide range of stakeholders: country representatives, NGOs, journalists and of course… the young generations!

The appealing campaign wristbands were handed out by the hundreds as well as brochures, lapel pins and a press release entitled “Youth is ready to answer the Beijing call for Biodiversity Conservation and Climate Change”.

The stand was all the more attractive to the attendees that it provided the opportunity to take inventive pictures thanks to boards and a selfie frame.

One of the highlights of the event for the campaign was the pitch session given by Melina Sakiyama (GYBN). She explained the rationale for the campaign and Youth strategy for both present and future generations.

The #BiodiversityNeedsYouTH campaign is a cross-cutting initiative implemented in partnership with Youth movements, to raise awareness of all generations, whether at international, national or subnational levels, ahead of CBD COP15.

This campaign is led by Post-2020 Biodiversity Framework. EU Support to help Youth movements take the stage to participate to intergenerational dialogues and international negotiations.
